The Model RTR 2735A rugged portable recorder targets applications needing a small and portable instrument capable of capturing line rate Ethernet traffic on one 40 GB stream, four 10 GB streams or eight 1 GB streams. Ethernet interface options include RJ45, SFP+ and LC optical connections. Up to sixteen hot-swap SSDs are available for total storage capacities from 3.8 TB to 61.4 TB and support for RAID levels 0, 1, 5, or 6. A complete PC workstation, the RTR 2735A supports aggregate recording rates up to 4.0 GB/s.
The RTR 2735A is housed in a rugged, lightweight chassis measuring only 16.0" W x 6.9" D x 13.0" H and typically weighs 25 pounds. This briefcase-style, portable workstation features 100% aluminum alloy construction, reinforced with shock absorbing rubber corners and an impact-resistant protective glass for the 17" high resolution LCD monitor.
"The RTR 2735A portable recorder is ideal for deployed, mobile applications that need performance and capacity in a very rugged environment," said Rodger Hosking, vice-president of Pentek. "This recorder can easily acquire and capture signals on an aircraft or vehicle, well supported with its optional DC power supply," he added.
Both the Talon RTR 2755 Rugged Rackmount recorder and RTX 2775 Extreme Rackmount recorder now handle multiple 1, 10, and 40 Gigabit Ethernet streams with aggregate recording rates up to 10 GB/s. Maximum storage capacity is now doubled to 122 TB.
Available I/O on all models includes USB 2.0, 3.0 and 3.1 ports, and dual Gigabit Ethernet connections.
Talon recorders are built on Windows Server 2016 with an Intel Core i7 processor and provide both a GUI (graphical user interface) and API (Application Programmer's Interface) to control the system. Systems are fully supported with Pentek's SystemFlow software for turn-key operation. The software provides a GUI with point-and-click configuration management and storage of custom configurations for single-click setup.
The Talon portable recorders offer an optional GPS receiver that allows users to time stamp recordings as well as store GPS position information. Portable models have options for an 18 to 36 VDC power supply and a removable operating system drive. Options for either optical or copper Ethernet connections are available and both portable and rackmount models offer multiple selections for the speed and quantity of Ethernet inputs and data storage capacity.
Pentek's SystemFlow Simulator provides a "test drive" of the SystemFlow recording software installed on all Talon recording systems. The simulator allows users to operate the standard GUI and the SystemFlow API. The free trial package is available for download here.
Pentek's Talon Recording Systems are high-speed recording and playback systems capable of streaming data to disk in real time. They are available in portable, rackmount and small form factor configurations, allowing operation in a variety of environments. The rugged series come in both a portable (briefcase style) and rack mountable PC server chassis. The extreme rugged series are flight certified, capable of handling high levels of shock and vibration as well as high altitude use. A specification comparison between RTR and RTX can be found here.
