Pentek, Inc., today announced a new recorder for the popular family of
Talon® recording systems: the
Model RTR 2736A multi-channel Serial FPDP (sFPDP) rugged portable recorder, suitable for military and aerospace, radar, and communications applications. The RTR 2736A is capable of capturing up to 8 Serial FPDP data streams in real time to solid state drives (SSD). It fully complies with the VITA 17.1 specification and additionally supports sFPDP baud rates up to 4.25 Gbaud, making it an ideal upgrade to existing systems. The new Talon portable chassis for the RTR 2736A boasts a smaller footprint that is lighter in weight, and provides double the storage capacity, number of channels and the recording rates of previous generation of Talon portable recorders. It also supports AC and DC power options.
The RTR 2736A supports different sFPDP modes of operation including copy mode, flow control, CRC and copy loop. Options for copper and multi-mode or single-mode optical interfaces make it compatible with virtually any existing sFPDP system.
The RTR 2736A includes a high-performance PCIe Gen. 3 SATA III RAID controller capable of streaming contiguous data to disk in real time at aggregate rates up to 3.2 GB/sec. The hot-swappable SSD array is available in 1.9 TB to 15.3 TB configurations and supports RAID levels 0, 1, 5, or 6.

Ruggedized & Deployable Construction
The RTR 2736A features a portable, lightweight, briefcase style housing measuring only 16.0" W x 6.9" D x 13.0" H and weighing just less than 30 pounds. This extremely rugged workstation is reinforced with shock absorbing rubber corners and an impact-resistant protective glass for its high resolution 17" LCD monitor. Hot swappable solid-state drives exhibit high immunity to shock and vibration for full operation in ground vehicles, ships and aircraft.
The RTR 2736A has an 18 to 36 VDC power supply option for vehicle-powered applications, eliminating the bulk and cost of a dedicated power converter. Optional GPS time and position stamping is available.
Available I/O includes audio and VGA video, six USB 2.0 ports, two USB 3.0 ports and dual Gigabit Ethernet connections.
Ease of Operation
All Talon RTR Portable Recorders are built on a Windows 7 Professional workstation with an Intel Core i7 processor and provide both a GUI (graphical user interface) and API (Application Programmer's Interface) to control the system. Systems are fully supported with Pentek's SystemFlow® software for system control and turn-key operation. The software provides a GUI with point-and-click configuration management and can store custom configurations for single-click setup. The software also includes a virtual oscilloscope and spectrum analyzer to monitor signals before, during and after data collection.

Pentek's SystemFlow Simulator software package simulates the SystemFlow® recording software, which is installed on all Talon® recording systems. You can download and install the free SystemFlow® Simulator to your desktop or laptop PC.
